Summary Of Why Kings Confess by C. S. Harris PDF Download
Why Kings Confess by C. S. Harris is a historical mystery novel set in Regency England. It is the ninth book in the Sebastian St. Cyr series, which follows the investigations of an aristocratic sleuth who has a knack for solving murders and uncovering secrets. The story begins in January 1813, when a young French physician named Damion Pelletan is found brutally killed in a London slum. His companion, Alexi Sauvage, is severely injured and has no memory of the attack. Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin, is called to the scene by his friend and surgeon, Paul Gibson. He soon learns that Pelletan was part of a secret delegation sent by Napoleon to negotiate a possible peace with Britain.
As Sebastian delves deeper into the case, he discovers that Pelletan had a connection to his own past – an act of wartime cruelty that nearly destroyed him. He also finds himself at odds with the daughter of Marie Antoinette, who claims to be the rightful heir to the French throne and wants to reclaim it at any cost. Meanwhile, Sebastian’s wife, Hero, is pregnant with their first child and worries about his safety and their future. She also uncovers some disturbing facts about Pelletan’s research on the “Lost Dauphin”, the boy prince who vanished during the French Revolution.
